Shaping future intervention logic (IL) with current and future indicators

Post 2027 (Interreg VII) Programme evaluation and indicators

The aim of the event is to support Interreg programmes in understanding and applying the new Intervention Logic framework for the upcoming 2028–2034 programming period. Participants will gain insights into the structure and practical implications of the new regulatory framework, with a particular focus on the design and coherence of intervention logics and the indicator system.

The event will introduce the main building blocks of the intervention logic - including general and specific objectives, measures, intervention approaches, output and result indicators, milestones, and targets - and clarify how these elements are interlinked. We will outline key criteria for each component, helping to understand how to ensure internal consistency and compliance with the new regulatory requirements.

Special attention will be given to the interpretation of reforms/measures regarding their definition and use. Ivanka Lakova and Tea Kelviser from DG REGIO will join the discussion to share their perspectives and answer participants’ questions.

Throughout the session, participants will be encouraged to engage actively by asking questions and sharing reflections on how the new logic may affect future programme design and monitoring approaches.

The second part of the event will focus on the indicator system for the current programming period (2021–2027). Participants will have the opportunity to discuss concrete questions related to the implementation and reporting of indicators. To ensure a targeted discussion, participants are invited to submit their questions in advance, allowing the organisers and DG REGIO colleagues to prepare tailored responses and examples.

This session will facilitate an exchange of experiences among programmes, highlight common challenges, and showcase possible solutions or good practices in indicator management.

Please note: To make the event as practical and useful as possible, we strongly encourage you to send us your questions in advance, no later than November 7.
