The proposed regulatory framework for 2028-2034 period introduces a new approach to control and audit. How its requirements will work in Interreg practice is still largely unclear. Programme authorities, controllers and auditors need to prepare, but many practical questions are open. 

After our first online event in April 2026, we want to continue our work on this topic and look together at the regulatory developments since spring. The draft Interreg Implementing Act, expected in autumn, will add important details on the rules that programmes will need to apply. 

We warmly invite you to join us online on Friday, 11 December 2026, for a discussion on the future of control and audit in Interreg. The event is also a first opportunity to bring together the main actors in control and audit. Together, we will explore how management verifications and audit could be organised in the next programming period. 

We do not expect to settle every question in one meeting. The aim is to build a shared understanding of the challenges, identify priorities for further work and continue the exchange between all actors involved. Representatives of the European Commission will take part in the event.
