Keeping Programmes on Track II - Controllers, Management Verifications (RBMV) and Financial Flows
This webinar is the second event (12 June 2026) in the Interact webinar series dedicated to strengthening programme performance, supporting the achievement of annual targets throughout the programming period, and reducing the risk of decommitment.
As more and more Interreg programmes move from contracting into full project implementation, attention is increasingly shifting towards the efficiency of management verifications, payment flows and overall programme cash-flow management. The webinar will therefore focus on how cooperation between Managing Authorities (MA), controllers and project partners can positively influence the speed and quality of expenditure verification and contribute to smoother programme implementation.
The session will present practical experiences and good practices from programmes, showcasing different system set-ups, organisational approaches and operational solutions. Particular attention will be given to experiences with Risk-Based Management Verification (RBMV), including how it may influence programme cash flow, administrative burden and implementation speed, while also considering potential risks and implications for future audits and assurance systems.
The discussion will also address current implementation challenges faced by programmes, including controller capacity, bottlenecks in verification processes, balancing simplification with compliance requirements, and maintaining confidence in the control and audit framework while accelerating spending.
Designed primarily for Managing Authorities (MA), Joint Secretariats (JS) and controllers, the webinar aims to provide a practical platform for exchange of experience and operational solutions that can help programmes maintain stable cash flow, strengthen financial performance and support sustainable target achievement throughout the implementation period.
The webinar series will continue in early October 2026 in cooperation with the European Commission and will address programme modifications, conditions for the use of flexibility provisions, and possible reallocations within programmes in order to support the achievement of implementation targets.
