Eastern Border Regions Communication follow up: Enhancing synergies between national/regional EU funding programmes and Interreg
The Communication on EU Eastern border regions recognises the long-term challenges these regions face in relation to security, resilience, competitiveness and territorial cohesion. It calls for coordinated governance, integrated investment and closer cooperation between European, national, regional and local actors.
As a follow-up to the Communication, the European Commission and the Interact programme are organising a meeting on coordination between Interreg and national and regional EU funding programmes.
The event will bring together authorities responsible for these funding instruments to take stock of existing coordination mechanisms, information exchange and cooperation. The discussion will focus on how Interreg and national and regional programmes can complement each other more effectively and contribute coherently to the implementation of the Eastern Border Regions Communication.
The meeting will also consider practical arrangements for strengthening coordination ahead of the 2028–2034 programming period.
