Strong Interreg, strong regions, strong Europe
What comes after 2027 for Interregional Cooperation? On 12 October 2026, the four interregional Interreg programmes - Interreg Europe, Interact, URBACT and ESPON - come together in Brussels for a side event of the European Week of Regions and Cities to look ahead to the next programming period.
What the session is about:
The session is divided into two parts:
The first part brings the four programmes together; each one presenting its key results and the concrete opportunities it offers regions and cities today: ongoing calls, upcoming changes, and the challenges ahead after 2027. Taken together, they will provide an overview of how Interregional Interreg Programmes support territorial evidence, capacity building, urban innovation and cooperation and how their complementarity strengthens cohesion and regional development across Europe.
The second part turns the floor over to participants. In a world café set-up, you can move between the programme representatives, discuss what is working in the current implementation, and share your expectations for the post-2027 period. Your input will feed directly into how the programmes think about their future offer to regions and cities.
After the end of the event a light dinner will be offered to the participants.
