Network meeting of Interreg programmes in the Baltic Sea Region: enhancing cooperation

General

Cooperation between the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) and Interreg programmes in the Baltic Sea region is essential. Both work within the same territory and towards the same goal – a more sustainable, prosperous, inclusive, and well-connected region. They operate on different but complementary levels:

   · EUSBSR sets the strategic framework, defining thematic priorities for collaboration and long-term objectives.

   · Interreg programmes, alongside other funding sources, provide funding to projects that contribute to EUSBSR implementation.

When programmes and the EUSBSR work together, projects achieve greater impact. There are already good examples of this, but past meetings have also revealed room for more collaboration – and a strong interest in exploring it further.

Objectives

This meeting builds on the outcomes of previous discussions among the EUSBSR Policy Area Coordinators and Interreg programmes, and focuses on practical ways to improve cooperation. The objectives are twofold: enhancing the visibility of Interreg and project results, and exploring how cooperation with strategy can be strengthened for the preparation of future programmes.

Policy Area Coordinators of the EUSBSR and Interreg programmes in the Baltic Sea Region are the target group of this meeting.
