EVAL - CAP: Evaluating the present, shaping the future

Capitalisation Programme evaluation and indicators

Outline and objectives

Evaluation and capitalisation are closely linked, as both focus on analysing and making use of high-quality project results. While evaluation assesses the impact and effectiveness of these outcomes/results, capitalisation aims to turn them into shared knowledge that can influence mindsets and support long-term legacy. Together, they offer complementary approaches that strengthen the value and sustainability of programme results.

The EVAL-CAP event aims to support Interreg programmes in making better use of evaluation results. The focus will be on turning evaluation findings into learning, integrating them into capitalisation activities, and using them in view of preparation of final calls for proposals and to inform strategic preparation for the 2028–2034 programming period. Through interactive discussions, we will explore how evaluation findings can feed capitalisation exercises, shape programme development, drive change, and inspire forward-looking cooperation strategies across programmes.

Throughout the event, we will present practical examples of how lessons from the previous periods have contributed to more informed strategic thinking, programme planning, and capitalisation efforts. We will also reflect on ideas to support the design and priorities of the upcoming 2028-2034 programming period.
