Albania, Montenegro and Serbia have joined the Interact V Programming Committee, as official members. This means the representatives of these countries will join the representatives of the EU27, Norway and Switzerland in designing the future Interact V Programme.

The members immediately joined and contributed to the discussions of the Programming Committee that agreed their participation. This included initial exchanges on the future governance, services, content and organisation of the programme.

As Members of the Committee, they have an equal voice in shaping the future Interact programme, which looks set to have a stronger role in supporting external cooperation, particularly in the Western Balkans.

Amongst the change of the future period, there was also a strong moment of continuity, with the Bratislava Region being endorsed as the prospective Managing Authority of Interact V. The Bratislava Region has held this role since 2008, and it has offered continuous to support to ensure that Interact keeps delivering on its mission to make cooperation easier.

In addition to approving the new members, and designating the prospective Managing Authority, the Programming Committee participated in a Virtual Workshop where they discussed key considerations to 'Continue', to 'Change', or larger external factors to 'Consider' in shaping the future Interact Programme.

The Committee will next meet in December 2026, and more information about the future and past meetings of the Programming Committee are available on our Monitoring and legal information page:
