As requested by several Member States, the Commission has proposed to extend the deadline for the administrative closure of the 2014-2020 programming period. Interim payments would have a new deadline of 30 June 2025 (final payment application respectively - 31 July 2025), and final closure package with a final implementation report would have a deadline of 15 February 2026.

This amendment, once approved, would offer programmes an additional 12 months to submit claims and close the period.

The eligibility period would remain unaffected as 31 December 2023, meaning projects have to incur all their expenditures and finalise activities by the end of 2023.

This amendment is part of the STEP (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) regulation which is expected to be agreed with the co-legislators towards the end of 2023.
